Today I want to share a few things real estate agents find themselves saying over and over in first conversations with people — things they wish more people already knew before we talked, because they would save a lot of worry.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. REALTORS® can tell you how many people call and start the conversation with an apology. “I’m sorry, we’re not quite ready yet.” “I hope this isn’t too early to ask.” Please stop apologizing. Calling early, before you’re ready, before you have a plan, is exactly right. That’s what I’m here for.
The market won’t make the decision for you. People sometimes wait for the “perfect” market conditions before they decide to sell. Here’s what I’ve observed: there is no perfect market. There is only your situation, your timeline, and what works for your life. We work with the market we have, and we do well in it.
Your home is worth more than you might think. Southern Alberta’s market has seen real appreciation over the past several years. People who haven’t looked at what their home might be worth lately are often genuinely surprised. A no-obligation home evaluation is one of the most useful things you can do, even if you’re a year or two away from listing.
We’re not going to pressure you. I know this is what every real estate agent says. But I mean it in a specific way: if you call me, have a great conversation, and then decide to wait two more years, I will still be glad we talked. And I’ll still pick up when you call back.
That’s the kind of relationship I want to build with the people I work with. Patient, honest, genuinely helpful.
Give me a call. Let’s just talk.
